My favorite historic place is Curzon Hall. It was built in the British era in 18th century it’s located in central Dhaka. It has several buildings made for judicial house or used as courts. Now the buildings are the science faculty of Dhaka University. There are some individual departments of different science subjects. It’s constructed with red bricks and looks great. There is also a garden and an old pond. This is a good place to visit. It is one of the historic places of our country which bear our ancient beauty. That’s how it is interesting.

 Part-3:
How do people in your country feel about protecting historic buildings?
People in my country are not so conscious about protecting historic buildings. However, people in cities protect some historic buildings. Government has renovated and repaired a number of buildings. As the rate of education is increasing, people now understand the importance of history.

Do you think an area can benefit from having an historic place locally/ in what way?
Yes, people get benefit from having historic place locally. They can learn from the past. They understand mistakes of our ancestors and correct themselves. They also can transportation for tourist and earn money.

What do you think will happen to historic places or buildings in the future? Why?
Some historic places those we now protect will stay longer, but some places especially in countryside or village areas will be destroyed because of lack of care and renovation. For example, government has renovated and repaired Lalbagh Fort in Dhaka. It’s now a place for public visit. However, we have lost many mosques and landlord house due to lack of proper and timely attention to repair.

At school, I started reading history book in class 10 or a SSC level in arts group, we can choose history as a course. However, in primary level we didn’t have any particular history book. We learned some of our history about our kings, and their times through Bangla textbooks.

Are there other ways people can learn about history, apart from school? How?
We travel place and learn history. People can learn about history form different books written on history, form magazine, newspaper, and novel and from television and radio. There are many good movies made on history. They can teach us history too.
